First off- I really love these guys. As a group, they're funny, kind, creative, and so bloody excited to be in Ecuador. It's incredibly stimulating.
We had a tour around the campus today- a student group took us to places like the campus creamery (font of some awesome yoghurt, as evidenced by the glazed look of ecstasy on Daniel's face in the photo above). We also hit the local museum, labs, the student ceramic factory. Our guides were all English majors, but we pretty much kept the language confined to the Iberian Peninsula. Lots of fun discussion on futbol, computer animation and 'Grand Theft Auto', dancing (I got to demonstrate my Social Distortion-era pogo at one point).
The other picture is a $2.50 lunch. Massive starter of potato soup, huge plate of fried rice with peppers and chicken, 'orchata' (infusion of regional flowers and herbs) and a chocolate torte. You can hear the screams of our bleeding wallets across the hemispheres. Kidding of course. The look of shock on Meghan's face traces to the bill... and the moment we realized that they were charging $2.50, not $12.50.
Such a beautiful city... and we, the most fortunate of people.
